"Shumi Maritsa" to pierwszy bułgarski hymn, który funkcjonował jeszcze w czasie, gdy bułgaria była monarchią. W tym samym czasie funkcjonował także drugi hymn (hymn królewski), który także był oficjalnym hymnem państwowym - "Himn na Zarstvo Balgarija". [Q]
